Camera Shy...

Today's challenge was to make a photograph of something that is soft, or a least looks like it.

I was trying to rack my brain and think of something creative to shoot, but alas, came up with nothing other than this photo of the cat. As you may recall from a previous post (http://365project.org/mags/365/2010-06-01) she is very difficult to shoot. She'll sit and taunt you with her oh-so-adorable looks, psychotic episodes and will playfully pose but when you grab the camera, she takes off like a bat out of hell. She definitely is not a ham in a cat suit when it comes to taking her picture. She was hiding under the table when suddenly something caught her attention outside...long enough for me to capture this quick shot.

Patience

When it comes to Sara, the cat, patience is a virtue .

Whenever any of us come through the door at night, quite often she'll come dashing to the door to greet us with her signature sideways bounce and will stop right where the carpet meets the tiled foyer area. She'll sit patiently waiting for some lovin' as we take off our shoes, hang our coats and check the mail. Once we step over the threshold and onto the carpet, she's all over us like white on rice. This is the same look we get when she wants her Whiskas kitty treats. She knows we keep them on the shelf under the side table and she'll sit there, staring at them patiently, until one of us caves in and gives her some. She'll patiently wait by my feet in the kitchen if I'm cutting up cheese, chicken or draining a can of tuna.

Kitty

June 1, 2010

This is Sara (although I call her "Kitty"). Don't let her small size fool you for what she lacks in stature, she makes up for in personality. She's independant (this ain't no lap cat), addicted to Whiskas kitty treats, likes shoving her head into the shoes you've had on all day and is extremely camera-shy. It's so hard to get a decent shot of her as she tends to run off just as the camera is all set ready to go. In fact, this shot was a fluke.....I spent close to an hour taking shots of her only to have her turn at the last minute and show off her bum to the camera. She does everything to avoid the camera. Finally, after running around the living room chair, I told her I gave up. That's it. No more photos. Just as I was about to put the camera away, she poked her head around the corner. CLICK! Clearly, she was caught off guard. The look of surprise she has on her face in this photo turned quickly into a look of disgust. Poor kitty! Foiled again!

Don't Toy With Me!

MAY 14, 2010

Sara, the cat, was none to pleased when I "stole" her toy away from her. She sat on the floor next to me, giving me the 'ole stink eye and meowed endlessly while I snapped a few shots of her beloved toy. Not sure what the attraction is....the kitty-saliva feathers? The scratchy twine or the jangle of the bell inside the toy?

After the photo shoot was over, I tossed the toy onto the floor in her direction. She sniffed it, rubbed her scent all over it and then proceeded to bat it away as she moved onto another favourite toy. What a finicky feline!
