Take it or "Leaf" it....

Today's challenge was to showcase the beauty of living foliage. Make a photo of a single leaf or and entire "greenscape".

Taking a walk in the garden this evening made me realize two things:

1) Fall is just around the corner. The garden was once filled with big , beautiful blooms and has now transformed into an area of dead, dried up foliage.

2) It's getting dark earlier these days and there is the nip of fall in the air which means it will soon be time to focus on indoor shots instead of outdoor (unless freezing your butt off in the middle of winter is your idea of fun).

I managed to capture this shot of a beautiful variegated coleus . I loved the jewel-like colours that really stood out in the dying garden. Sadly, time will soon be up for these beauties as you can see the leaves are starting to fade and wilt. *Sigh* How many more days left until summer begins again?

Will

It appears that death has reared it's ugly head into my life again. This time, it's taken my friend Will.

I met Will when I was in middle school in grade 7. While we lost contact after high school, we were able to reconnect around 4 years ago. We developed a strong brother/sister like relationship as we knew each other's deepest and darkest secrets. We had a pact that we would look out for each other. A couple of weeks ago, I was shocked and saddened to hear that he had suffered a massive heart attack and had slipped into a coma. Will was always a fighter and always managed to come out victorious in the end. Sadly, this was a battle he couldn't win. I suppose he'll still keep a watchful eye out for me in between his jammin' sessions on his guitar and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs win a Stanley cup (wishful thinking?) from up above.

R.I.P Will....

Dead Like Fred

This is Fred. He is dead. Fred is a pesky fly . This uninvited house guest was flying around the house for a few days now just generally being a nusance driving us all insane with his incessant buzzing (similar to the annoying vuvuzelas heard in the World Cup soccer games). Ha Ha Fred. You're so dead. Look who has the last laugh now..........
